Madinah is one of the safest cities in the world for women to travel on their own. Dubai finished third. The findings are based on a study by the UK-based travel insurance company Insurance My Trip. According to Insurance My Trip, 84% of those traveling alone are unmarried women. Madinah came in first with a score of 10 out of 10 in a population-based survey.
The study was aimed at finding the safest places for tourists. Madinah ranks high in the absence of gender-based attacks and in the safety of walking alone at night. Madinah was chosen as the safest city because of its low crime rate. The security list of cities is based on ten indicators.
Madinah came out on top in 10 out of 10 points, including women’s sense of security when traveling alone, crimes against women, access to help for women in need, and respect for women. Chiang Mai, Thailand is the second safest city for women to travel alone. Dubai came in third with 9.04 marks out of 10. Japan’s Kyoto is next with 9.02 points.
Johannesburg, South Africa is one of the unsafe cities in the world for women to travel alone. The city scored zero points. With a score of 2.98, Kuala Lumpur is the second most unsafe city and Delhi is the third most unsafe city with a score of 3.39. Indonesia’s Jakarta and France’s Paris are the other two cities in the bottom five of the list unsafe for women.
